Bobby Darin was an American singer, songwriter, and actor, born on May 14, 1936, in New York City. Darin had a short but intense music career that spanned the late 1950s and early 1960s, during which he became a popular performer of rock and roll, jazz, and pop music. He had many hits during his career, including "Mack the Knife," "Beyond the Sea," and "Dream Lover."
Darin was also a successful actor, with his most notable role being in the film "Captain Newman, M.D." alongside Gregory Peck. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting role in the film.
Darin suffered from a heart condition from a young age and underwent multiple surgeries throughout his life. He died on December 20, 1973, at the age of 37, following complications from heart surgery. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
